In wake of rash of shootings in Chicago, Daley and Police Superintendent push for more gun control

The problem is that it is as difficult to get guns away from these gangs as it is to take away their drugs. Not surprisingly the solution, in a city that already bans guns, is more gun control for the rest of the state and the nation:

Chicago police Superintendent Jody Weis said all but three of the 26 shootings were gang-related.

Seven victims were juveniles, five of whom were out after the city curfew of 11 p.m. So he's also asking parents to be more vigilant about where their children are after hours.

Weis also supports Mayor Daley in his call for tougher legislation that will make it more difficult to get and own guns.

"You just have too many guns and too many gangs, and too much drugs on the street," Weis said. "There's just too many weapons out here." . . .

But of course. In a city that effectively disarms the law abiding, where firearm possession is virtually outlawed for the honest and criminals alike, the solution is making gun ownership and use even more illegal than it already is. Never mind the fact that using a gun to commit murder engenders the maximum penalty the law can impose, the solution to all of man's woes is to impose more and more draconian gun laws, particularly upon those who don't break the law in the first place.

In some parts of the country, this kind of idiocy would cause a politician or police chief to fear for their jobs as the public would be wondering just what was wrong with them. Perhaps Chicago can also revel in the wonderful results acheived by such anti-gun utopias as DC.

Brilliant. There's a blizzard, so the solution is to ban snowblowers.
